ANNIE MILLICAN

Annie Millican is a textile artist and designer who lives between Sedona, AZ and Providence, RI. Her work touches on themes of play, whimsy, and peace. She experiments with natural dyes and natural and synthetic yarns to explore the happy accidents that occur when materials interact on the woven grid. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her new body of work is made from natural dyes created in collaboration with artisan Olga Reiche in Guatemala, and vintage metallic yarns sourced from historic trim shops in Paris; the pieces are slow-going meditations on the natural cycles of healing.

EXHIBITIONS AT FOLKLORE STUDIO

  • A story about meeting points. When elements collide, mirror, and interplay. What was singular takes a new form in company. And somehow again, becomes singular. Ropes intertwine, canvas is quilted, threads overlap, and new shapes emerge. Now we see differently. The wave becomes ocean. Was it ever a wave? We experience oneness. Until it all unravels.

Featuring new work by Ethan Caflisch, Alysha Colangeli, Jess Feury, Annie Millican, Jim Olarte and Emelie Richardson.

    May 10 – June 14, 2025
